This Woman Just Became The First Female Head of Armed Forces of a NATO Country Its a major day for Major General Alenka Ermenc from Slovenia. She was simply designated head of staff of the Slovenian military, and will take her post today.Slovenia is the main Nato nation that has delegated a lady as leader of its army.Ermenc began her military help in 1991, after Slovenia won its autonomy from previous Yugoslavia. She was formerly filling in as the armys vice president of staff.Shes supplanting Major General Alan Geder, who has been filling in as head of staff since February.
